Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.
If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.
Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.
I'm not entirely sure where I stand in terms of politics. That's something I'm trying to formulate my views on, but it isn't very easy and I don't really feel like I identify much with a party. I register myself as independent. *grin* Ideally, I like the idea that churches should be caring for people in more ways than just their souls--I think that's what God intended. But I don't think that's something we can legislate and I think that trying to legislate it deprives people of vitalservices, particularly in terms of health care. It would be nice if churches just did it because they should, but churches are full of selfish people who don't really have a clue how good they have it; and until that changes I think it's very stupid for the government to take a hands-off approach. I don't know if that makes much sense, but it's what I think about a lot.
I'm pretty scared of political discussions, mostly because I'm afraid of someone using that "conservative" term in a demeaning way or treating me like I'm just stupid or immature because I don't have extra strong opinions. Probably the only thing I have a truly strong opinion about is abortion, but I don't think legislation is the answer to that problem either. Not that I think it's ok that it's legal, but it is and that's life.I can't vote based on someone's abortion views. It's already a done deal. All I can do is try to help people understand why I think the way I do, and I vote based on real issues that can be altered now.
Anyway, I don't know if I'll vote this year or not. I'd like to, but I don't know if I'm ready inside myself. If nothing else, I'd like to be ready for the next major election.
