Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.

If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.

Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.

thoughts on Psalm 10

This may be the start of another project. But most importantly, I think it's very fitting for the day. I was opening up to write on another passage, and I turned to the wrong page. Here's the result.

O Lord, many of us are young and cannot remember when war ever touched our homeland. But you are no stranger to it. You have heard our cries before. From the king of a nation deep in spiritual and often physical battle you heard our cries. "Why, O Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?"

Yet you have not hidden yourself. Here you are, listening and waiting for us to cry out to you.

In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises.

Unsuspecting, law-abiding Americans board airplanes and go to work every day in buildings which our enemies would seek to destroy.

He boasts of the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord. In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in his thoughts there is no room for God.

In pride, they cry out for the lives of a nation which desires peace. In that very nation they raise funds to support their acts of terror against us. This is a holy war to them. It is a holy war for us; yet it is a very different kind of holy war.

His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies. He says to himself, 'Nothing will shakeme; I'll always be happy and never have trouble.' His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue.

America has enemies. They enjoy the benefit of hundreds of millions of dollars dedicated to carrying out their terrorist acts against us; and whether or not they planned or carried out single acts, they wish us ill and rejoice at our suffering. Many even live in this very country, enjoying the freedoms protected by those they fight against.

He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent, watching in secret for his victims. He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and dragsthem off in his net.

Thousands of unsuspecting, helpless victims, caught in a net made of aircraft and building! How many more will there be?

His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength. He says to himself, 'God has forgotten. He covers his face and never sees.'

He says, "God is good; he is angry with them and is bringing about justice."

Arise, O Lord! lift up your hand, o God. do not forget the helpless. Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, 'He won't call me into account'?

How can he see these acts of hate as divinely ordainedacts? How can he have no regard for life at all?

But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.

Let us draw strength from the knowledge of your presence and your steadfast love and mercy. Comfort those who are mourn; encourage allof us who are weak and afraid.

Break the arm of the wicked and evil man. Call him into account for his wickedness that would not be found out.

Whether through the investigation here on earth or on the day of accountability, Lord, you must be victorious, and there will be an end to suffering!

The Lord is King for ever and ever. The nations will perish from his land.

No one can attack the Lord, God. No one can shake his strongholds. In this I trust; for I cannot trust even in the United States of America.

You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

You know our fears, our sorrows, and our weaknesses. You are in the midst of our suffering, weeping for the sin which costs innocent lives. We trust in you, O Lord, and we put all our faith and hope in your love.
