Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.
If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.
Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.
There's a difference between pure emotion and deep emotion because your soul is touched. I've seen people go after spiritual signs like drugs, and I think that's the "emotion" some people talk about. You know, shout "Amen!" at all the right times; cry at the right time; break out the tongues at the right time... That bugs me, too. And that's why I want maturity in my leadership. The pastor at the Assembly of God I attended in Nacogdoches actually called someone on the carpet for this kind of behavior, and he also advised me against getting involved with a certain "prayer group" which was really nothing more than a hype group. I had already been to a couple of their meetings and had talked with the pastor because of things that were going on. He, of course, couldn't stop them; he could only refuse to endorse it--and he did.
But faith is an emotional thing when it touches the soul, and I know that I need to be in a place where there is freedom to be emotional. It doesn't necessarily have to be in a Charismatic/Pentecostal setting, but that's one reason I'm drawn there.
I am a member of Lighted Path, a directory of Christian diaries.
