Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.

If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.

Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.

doing laundry

I had to go out and do three loads of laundry tonight. I've been feeling unsafe around here, and I've been told not to go out after dark. Well, I went out (with Elli) after dark. Yep, I was on the alert. A little scared.

This other dog has been hanging around a lot since sometime last week. She and Elli have become friends, so when I was out I was hoping she would come around. She's not very old, but she is really alert. I didn't see her any of the times I went out, and I was kind of disappointed. I was hoping she hadn't been picked up. The last time I saw her, one of my old-lady neighbors was asking if I wanted her to call and have the dog picked up so she wouldn't 'trip' me. (What's the deal with the tripping stuff, anyway? Everyone's always afraid of that.)

The last time I went to the laundry room, I thought about not taking Elli. She was asleep. But I decided that since it was dark and I was getting really scared (like I do at night even inside) I would take her. On the way back, the other dog came up around the corner of one of the buildings. She followed us home and stayed on the other side of Elli . "While I unlocked my door, she stayed in my yard. I let Elli go inside, and I went in and put the laundry bag down. Then I went out to look for the dog and give her a biscuit from Elli's stash. She was gone.

I like the Psalms. Recently I have been enjoying the 91st. I thought of it before I went to New York, and I remembered it again after the big crossing of Third Avenue. I looked at it tonight and read the whole thing instead of only the part I knew. Two things stand out. 'You will not fear the terror of the night, ... For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.' I felt better with Elli and the other dog both there.
