Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.
If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.
Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.
What am I looking for in my church, relationships, and walk with God? A place to belong. I feel like I am wandering aimlessly.
I was glad to get to church today. I want to get hungry for the things of God. My tiredness and depression do not come from Him.
Do I go to church to see the sites, or am I willing to be committed to Jesus? He is doing a motive check. I want my motives to change.
What is the difference between "the darkness has not understood" and "the darkness has not overcome?"
Motives for going to church include:
We want to just get by. I've seen this in myself off and on for the last five years. I know that God cares about my felt needs. What is the right attitude for me to have about these needs? He says not to worry; for He knows what I need. I don't have to keep begging because He has promised to meet my needs.
We rely on traditions. For example, we rely on certain songs to lift us up. But sometimes even those songs don't work. I need something that only God can give.
We depend on other people. We need to let God motivate us. I can go to church anytime, anywhere when I count on Him.
I am a member of Lighted Path, a directory of Christian diaries.
Read my profile. This is not a comprehensive introduction, but there is some fun information there.
