Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.

If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.

Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.

notes from a sermon on worship

Worship means to bow down, to prostrate oneself (Hebrew), to give glory and esteem, to serve (Greek).

Worship is an action. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, even Satan.

Proud people do not worship; worship requires humility. (Isaiah 15:8-9)

Barriers to Worship

Consumerism: coming to spectate, going home and scoring the performance. Worship leaders easily become critics. The congregation is the actor, the leaders are the promptors, and God is the interactive audience. Is our worship pleasing? We should worship in spirit (with engagement) and truth.

Do we still tremble at His Word? He wants us to draw near with assurance and boldness.

Experience Abba "Daddy."

Present our bodies. (Romans 1:12)

Don't use eyes to sin; look at God.

Praise with my mouth. Shout, sing, teach, be still.

Kneel. People kneeling can't run away. It's an act of submission.

Lift up hearts and holy hands. What have I been using my hands for? Lifting them is giving them to God.

Worship is freedom and surrender, giving our all. When we are in bondage to each other and self-conscious about worship, our focus is on ourselves and not on God. Adoration is the most selfless emotion we are capable of

.

My eyes include my ears, my hands, and my thoughts.
