Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.
If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.
Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.
When Jesus talked about taking up our crosses, he was not talking about enduring illness. In the context, he warns about loving family members more than him. If you have never had a family member discourage you from exercising or talking about your Christian values, then you are very fortunate. Being part of a family creates a kind of unspoken obligation. Family members can use the natural obligation of respect to impose non-Christian values on you. Because this imposition comes from a family member, it can be painful and difficult to stand up for your faith. Standing up and the difficulties that arise because of it are the cross that we must bear as followers of Christ.
I am a member of Lighted Path, a directory of Christian diaries.
