Thanks for visiting my diary. I've been journaling since 1984 and have chosen to share some of my entries online. They are not all positive thoughts, but I hope that reading them might be a blessing to someone who needs encouragement.
If you are just coming to my diary for the first time, please read my introductory entry, where I share some background that is important if you plan to follow this diary regularly.
Please also visit my music page, where you can hear samples from my debut CD, I Believe, which features songs written based on experiences shared in this journal.
I went to the doctor today for a follow-up visit to discuss starting Singulair for my asthma. I also brought the issue of constant allergic symptoms, fatigue, and my parents noticing that I'm not hearing very well. I always had very good hearing, never missed a sound on the hearing screenings.
I did get to start the Singulair and also have something for congestion. (I think this makes nine meds now.) They did a hearing screening, washed a tiny piece of wax out of my right ear, and did the screening again. In the left ear, I heard four out of five tones, one of which was a major strain. In the right ear, I heard two or three, and this was after the wax thing. Tomorrow I'll be having something called an audiogram done. I have no idea what this is so am dragging Mom with me. She's not really happy about taking off work early, but she's the one who kept bugging me.
Truth be told, I've been worried about it for a while. When I was 16, I purchased my first recording equipment of the professional variety because I wanted to record the songs I was writing. In the last couple of years, I've noticed that my ability to judge balance between the various aspects of the recording is affected, and I am finding it difficult to sing in tune. This really upsets me because music is one of those things that means a great deal to me. To be truthful, it is an extremely spiritual thing for me. Having my ability to sing and do the recordings impaired is like losing a finger or two.
